International Marketing Supervision Network (IMSN)

The International Marketing Supervision Network is a worldwide voluntary network of national consumer regulatory organisations. One of the principal objectives of the Network is to prevent and, where necessary, seek to remedy the effects, through the practical co-operation of its constitutent organisations, of crossborder marketing malpractices.

The Network is five years in existence and its Presidency, which rotates every year, is now held in Ireland. The first meeting of the Network under its Irish President, Mr. William P. Fagan the Director of Consumer Affairs, took place in Dublin on 15th and 16th September, 1997. The main focus of the meeting was on electronic commerce fraud, the protection of consumer rights in relation to transnational fraud, cross border redress systems and the Internet. All of these issues have major implications for consumers as the electronic age becomes increasingly consumer oriented and national borders become increasingly irrelevant.
